High End Audio System Reviewing Bandwidth Audio

High End Audio System Reviewing Bandwidth Audio

It’s okay if you’re not familiar with the high-end audio company, Bandwidth Audio from Austin, Texas. After this video on the high end audio system reviewing Bandwidth Audio, this small company will surely be on your radar. They make some of the finest tube-based two channel audio gear I’ve ever heard. I put their entire suite of products to the test and came away very impressed.

Tube Based Audio System

Tube Preamp - The Aurora One Preamp

The Aurora One is among the finer sounding Class A tube preamps I’ve encountered in all my years of being an AV journalist. Similar in flavor -but not style -to another great manual, all-tube preamp, the Hovland HP-100, the Aurora One is an old-school charmer with a decidedly modern sound and feature set. Arguably the best piece in Bandwidth’s stable of products, the Aurora One is destined to be a favorite with audiophiles.

Kaskode One Phono Preamp

Aimed at high-end vinyl enthusiasts, the Kaskode One phono preamp is designed to be the last phono pre any real discerning enthusiast would likely ever need. Capable of accommodating both MM and MC cartridges, the Kaskode One is the type of phono preamp that elevates the sonics of virtually any turntable connected to it as evident in my tests with and without it in the signal chain.

288 Monaural Amplifier

The 288 Monaural Amplifier is a 60-Watt per channel, push-pull tube monaural amp that while physically large sounds deliciously delicate and incredibly neutral for a relatively powerful tube amp of its ilk. While I did like the appearance of the 288 amps (and their sound even more) of the three components in the chain, the 288 were the least “impressive” in that if one were building a system but had limited means, I’d likely steer folks towards either preamp before investing in the 288 amps themselves.

On a whole the Bandwidth system is truly a fine example of a complete Class A, A/B tube based audio system for the modern era. An absolute gem of a system!
