Andover Audio Spinbase Review

Modern Music System for Your Hifi Record Player - spinbase review

Looking for a modern music system for your hifi record player? Look no further than Andover Audio's affordable Spinbase Turntable Speaker System.

The Spinbase is basically a soundbar for your turntable. Setting it up is as easy as 1-2-3. First, you place the Spinbase on a level surface like a console table or dresser. Second, set a turntable of your choosing on top of the Spinbase. Third, connect the two together and you’re done. The Spinbase’s one button operation is the epitome of minimal. Simply turn the center mounted volume knob to the right until you reach the desired volume and enjoy the music.

Despite it’s simplicity the Spinbase is more than just a speaker for your turntable, it is a complete modern music system. It also features Bluetooth connectivity as well as a built-in headphone amplifier that uses a 3.5mm jack. We tested the Spinbase’s headphone capability with Andover’s own PM50 reference headphones and were pleased with the resulting sound quality.

The Spinbase even features Bluetooth connectivity. Going into your smartphone’s Bluetooth menu and selecting Spinbase from the “discovery” menu will pair the devices together. Simple.

The sound quality you can expect from the Spinbase is similar to that of a higher end Bluetooth speaker from the likes of Sonos or perhaps Bang & Olufsen. The Spinbase is not going to replace or best a dedicated two channel speaker system, but for what it is, it is very satisfying. The Spinbase’s near 360-degree sound field is capable of filling small to medium sized living spaces with clean, clear sound with a surprising amount of bass. Sadly, if more bass is required there is no subwoofer output on the Spinbase’s back panel.

Speaking of back panel, the Spinbase does have tone controls as well as an additional line level input so you could connect the Spinbase to another audio device such as a CD player or a TV with a set of analog audio outputs.

All in all, the Andover Audio Spinbase is the perfect addition to any home with minimal or modern decor. Its space saving design makes it great for small living spaces such as a home office, den, guest bedroom or even a dorm room. Beginning vinyl enthusiasts and record collectors who want an easy to use speaker for their record player should consider the Spinbase from Andover Audio.
